The mounted unit consists of Sworn police officers who signed up for extra duty on horseback. The Mounted Enforcement Unit is used for crowd control functions, high-visibility enforcement for special events, and community relations.

The unit consists of five officers and their mounts, and it is an ancillary duty. Between deployments, the mounted officers work anywhere from Patrol to Police Administration. The officers privately own and care for the horses at their expense. Mounted Officers will complete their training near the end of summer.
