The goal of the Fullerton Fire Department is to deliver the highest quality of medical care to members of the community.  On medical calls, we strive to provide timely response, evaluation and treatment by our highly trained Firefighters & Firefighter/Paramedics. The Fullerton Fire Department is the sole provider of Paramedic services for the City. Our Firefighter/Paramedics have a well-deserved reputation for providing high-quality patient care among the medical community and the public. The Department demonstrates its commitment to this level of service by providing extensive training, utilizing quality control measures, and purchasing the most technologically advanced medical supplies and equipment.

All of the Department's Firefighters are trained as Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs).  EMTs assist the Firefighter/Paramedics on every 911 medical incident. At least 30 of the Department’s Firefighter/EMTs completed a highly specialized and rigorous program to become licensed Paramedics.  Saddleback College Paramedic program offers this specialized training right here in Orange County and the Fullerton Fire Department enjoys a close working relationship with them.  Rhonda Rosati RN, EMS Manager for the Fullerton and Brea Fire Departments sits on their advisory board to represent the Department.

In total, the City has six fire stations that are strategically located to provide the best services to the community. Each day there are five fire engines, and one fire truck in service. There are a minimum of two Firefighter/Paramedics on each fire engine. The truck company is staffed with four Firefighter/EMTs who will arrive on scene first to initiate basic medical care, which at times can include lifesaving cardio-pulmonary resuscitation or delivering rapid electrical shocks using automated external defibrillators (AEDs), prior to the arrival of the paramedic team.

Every time someone calls 911, they can expect either an Advanced Life Support fire engine with Firefighter/Paramedics or a Basic Life Support fire truck and a private ambulance to respond on scene. Under critical circumstances, another fire engine or truck may also be dispatched for additional resources.

No matter what the situation, our citizens can expect to be treated with dignity, respect, and compassion. Over the years, our Firefighter/Paramedics have earned the public’s trust and take this responsibility very seriously.
