Public parking lots in both the Downtown and Transportation Center are individually posted with various parking restrictions. Typically those restrictions are for 2-3 hours between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Several parking user groups; i.e. employees, customers, and rail passengers, including both Metrolink commuters and Amtrak riders, utilize the Transportation Center, Downtown surface lots and parking structures. The difficulty lies in finding a balance between each user group with limited parking that is available.
It should be noted that the City has made improvements where possible to increase the number of available parking spaces for commuters. These include the addition of a surface lot on the southeast corner of Pomona Avenue and Santa Fe Avenue; opening the Plummer Parking Structure and the 400 spaces herein to those arriving early; the addition of parking on the south side of the platform adjacent to the new park construction immediately east of Highland Avenue between Walnut Avenue and Truslow Avenue; and the addition of street parking on the north side of Santa Fe Avenue adjacent to the south platform. In addition to the above mentioned, additional long-term parking is available on the south side of Santa Fe Avenue opposite the south platform, as well as the 810 space parking structure on the south side of Sante Fe Ave west of Harbor Blvd.
