The Equipment Maintenance Division is committed to maintaining the City's fleet of nearly 400 vehicles, from fire trucks and street sweepers to light pick-ups and sedans, by providing preventive maintenance, periodic safety inspections, non-routine repairs, and modifications, and the Biennial Inspection of Terminals (BIT) program as required by the State. The division maintains other City equipment, including emergency generators.
This Division also administers the City's Equipment Replacement Program, which is managed through the Vehicle Replacement Fund. This program is responsible for managing the full cycle from acquisition through disposal of certain equipment.
The Division is responsible for purchasing fuel and maintaining six fuel sites including "EcoFuel" Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) station located at 1600 W. Commonwealth, Fullerton and available to the public 24/7.
