Welcome to the Hunt Branch Library!
Our story began on September 12, 1962, when the Hunt Foods Foundation Library opened its doors, a generous gift from Norton Simon’s Hunt Foods. Designed by the renowned architect William Pereira, the library is nestled in a beautiful park-like setting, making it a favorite destination for families and young children. In its first 90 days, the library loaned an impressive 37,000 books.
The Hunt Library functioned as a vital second branch of the Fullerton Public Library for over 50 years, providing invaluable services to the community until its closure due to defunding in 2013.In 2023, Deputy City Manager, Daisy Perez, gave a presentation proposing that the city take over managing the Hunt. With the approval from the Hunt Library Ad Hoc Committee and the Fullerton City Council, the Hunt was on its way to opening its doors once more.
In April 2024, the grand re-opening of the Hunt Branch Library was a momentous event for the Fullerton community. The library now boasts significant upgrades, including ADA-compliant bathrooms, new windows, enhanced lighting, and well-maintained grounds. These improvements not only restore but also enhance the library's architectural significance, making it a source of pride for the Fullerton community once again.
