The Fullerton Parks and Recreation Department is excited to announce the City Council’s unanimous approval of the updated concept for the Union Pacific Trail Phase Two project, passed on January 16, 2024. This project transforms the former Union Pacific Railroad right-of-way into the Union Pacific Trail and Bike Path, connecting neighborhoods and promoting sustainable, active transportation. The plan aligns with the Rail District Specific Plan, reserving space for future redevelopment by private developers, and includes a Class I bike lane, pedestrian walkway, lighting, and landscaping.
As part of the project’s commitment to environmental sustainability, at least 176 new trees will be planted along the trail. This enhanced recreational space will provide residents with a safe and accessible area for outdoor activities, contributing to the city’s long-term vision of creating greener, more connected public spaces. See below for a timeline for this exciting project.
