Protect Your Home from Wildfire
Weed Abatement focuses on fire prevention practices to help protect your home and neighborhood from the threat of wildfires. You can significantly reduce the risk of fire spreading to your property by following our guidelines.
Key Practices for Fire Prevention
- Clear Vegetation: Remove weeds, dead plants, and overgrown vegetation within 100 feet of your home.
- Create a Defensible Space: Maintain a clear space around your property to act as a buffer zone.
- Tree and Shrub Maintenance: Prune tree branches to remove undergrowth and ensure a minimum clearance of six feet from the ground. Trim branches to keep them at least 10 feet away from chimneys.
- Remove Combustible Materials: Clear dead leaves, pine needles, and other debris from rooftops and gutters. Properly dispose of all cut materials.
- Use Fire-Resistant Plants: Whenever possible, replace highly combustible plants with fire-resistant ones. Ensure adequate spacing and reduce plant material to minimize fire risk.
- Brush Clearance: Always have a water source readily available, avoid clearing brush during peak temperatures, use properly maintained equipment, and wear appropriate safety gear.
