SisterCityFukui

Fukui is located in central Japan. Fukui has a population of 265,000 and serves as the capital of the Fukui Prefecture.

The city was devastated by air raids in World War II and by a great earthquake just three years later. It has become known as the “phoenix city,” rising from rubble to become the thriving modern city that it is today.

Fullerton’s second sister city, former Mayor Molly McClanahan signed the official documents in 1989. Flowering cherry trees were planted at both the Muckenthaler Center and Fullerton City Hall in celebration and recognition of the new sisterhood.
