The City of Fullerton was allocated $32.67 million by the American Rescue Act Plan of 2021 (ARPA). These funds are intended to repair the economic damage of COVID-19. The City received $16.33 million in May and will receive another $16.33 million next fiscal year.

ARPA rules allow for expenditures under several broad categories, including:

1. Support public health expenditures.

2. Address negative economic impacts of the pandemic.

3. Invest in sewer, water, and broadband infrastructure.

This means the use of funds is not unlimited; the money must be spent within these categories.

On September 14 at 4:00pm, the City Council will hold a study session to discuss and consider priorities for spending the City's ARPA funds.

As items are identified, the Fullerton City Council may hold Study Sessions as scheduled.

A study session is an informal meeting of the City Council where issues affecting the city may be discussed in greater detail than time allows during a regular City Council meeting. Council does not take action on items discussed during a Study Session, but instead gathers information and explores options. Like a regular meeting, a study session requires 72 hours advanced notice, a majority of the City Council must be present, and the meeting must be open to the public.
